With the help of Jim’s wife, Betsy, as vice president, the company continues to grow. Though Bill retired in 2000, his son Jim Brown took over as president. Today, the company uses a combination of manual, welding, bending turning, cutting, punching and CNC milling machines to produce parts for nearly 4,000 Thunderbird enthusiasts annually. in 1973, and purchased what was then an old lumber company that became the current home of CASCO. ![]() What began in the couple’s basement buying and selling parts and cutting and polishing glass grew until it was time to expand. “Some of the parts were hard to come by, so we decided to start making them,” Bill said. The couple bought a 1957 model, and after beginning to restore it, ran into challenges finding parts. “My wife said ‘Why don’t you get one of those T-Birds?’” he said. Having sold a Model T prior to relocating, he began looking for another “hobby car,” he explained. It was a wonderful time.”īill, a former product manager and engineer for General Electric, was transferred to Coshocton from Owensboro, Ky. “I grew up in the ’50s and went to high school in the ’50s. That makes the classic T- Bird a more affordable option for classic car hobbyists.īill went on to say that first-generation Thunderbirds are popular among hobbyists because of their unique styling, two-seat design, and flashback of an iconic time in America. In comparison, he explained that more Thunderbirds were made in 1955 alone than the number of Chevrolet Corvettes manufactured during the same three-year period.
